Linn County Sheriff’s Office Log: Aug. 8 – 15

Aug. 8

Domestic Disturbance, 6:21 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Caller stated her boyfriend had been acting violently. No crime was reported. Female was advised to stay elsewhere for the evening. Male could not be located.

Traffic Complaint, 7 p.m., SW Filbert Street, Scio. After receiving a complaint at the city council meeting, a deputy contacted a family in regards to use of their golf cart on the roadways.

Traffic Stop, 10:24 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Driver warned for loud music and exhaust.

Suspicious Circumstance, 11:40 p.m., NW Fourth Avenue/N Main Street, Scio. Driver of a vehicle going through Scio when someone walking in the middle of the road appeared to have slapped her car, causing no damage. Deputy could not locate individuals.

Aug. 9

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:05 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Caller had information regarding a wanted person.

Traffic Stop, 9:36 a.m., Kingwood Avenue/Fairview Street, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 9:58 a.m., SW Kingwood and S First avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for speed.

Traffic Stop, 10:42 a.m., NW Santiam Blvd./NW Fifth Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for expired vehicle registration.

Traffic Stop, 11:10 a.m., Kingwood Avenue/Fairview Street, Mill City. Driver warned for expired vehicle registration.

Traffic Stop, 2:53 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for 44 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Criminal Mischief, 4:24 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Caller wanted it documented his fence had been cut. Deputies documented the incident and placed extra patrols in the area.

Traffic Hazard, 6:49 p.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Complaint of shopping carts blocking view of shoppers leaving the parking lot. Deputy drove the area and did not think the shopping carts location was a hazard or nuisance to vehicle operators.

Suspicious Circumstance, 8:24 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Suspicious person turned out to be someone using a constellation application on their phone.

Trespass, 11:19 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Deputy searched area near the water hole regarding possible trespassers.

Aug. 10

Suspicious vehicle, 4:09 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputies speak to a sleepy traveler trying to catch shut eye in front of a resident’s gate. Sleepy traveler moved along.

Parking Complaint, 11:31 a.m., SE Juniper Street, Mill City. Deputy working with homeowner to remove trailer.

Traffic Stop, 1:37 p.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver cited for 42 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Traffic Complaint, 9:02 p.m., NW First Avenue, Scio. Caller reported vehicle failing to dim their brights while driving behind her.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:28 p.m., Rodgers Mountain Loop, Scio. Caller requested area check after seeing suspicious vehicle in the area.

Suspicious Vehicle, 10:28 p.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputy located a vehicle in a no parking zone. Owner contacted and was actively picking up cans and other litter in the area.

Traffic Stop, 11:01 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Aug. 11

Dog Complaint, 11:37 a.m., 16th Street, Lyons. Deputy attempted contact with dog owner re: dog violations.

Traffic Stop, 11:41 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Driver warned for failure to yield right of way.

Theft, 11:50 a.m., Dogwood Street, Lyons. Caller reported a contractor was paid up front in March for a job and never showed up. Caller is out $1,500.

Fraud, 1:55 p.m., Shelburn Drive, Scio. Caller was scammed out of $1,000 by an out-of-country scam ring. They pretended to be Wells Fargo and convinced caller to buy Target gift cards to protect her account.

Theft, 3:53 p.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Female reported black calla lily plant missing from her front yard. Estimated value $40.

Forest Timber Patrol, 9:11 p.m., Blowout Road, Idanaha. Patrolled looking for suspects in recent burglaries at Stahlman Cabins. Deputy found one illegal camp on the 021 road.

Prower, 10:13 p.m., Rodgers Drive, Scio. Caller reported his camera captured a suspicious light at the end of his driveway. Caller and deputies were unable to locate any persons or vehicles.

Aug. 12

Disturbance, 12:15 a.m., SW Linn Blvd., Mill City. Deputy responded to a disturbance at The Trio.

Extra Patrol, 1:48 a.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Extra patrol at Kimmel Park. Persons located in park after hours and advised to leave.

Shots Heard, 7:20 a.m., Fish Hatchery and Oupor drives, Scio. Deputy located the van and driver. Driver committed no known crimes and denies discharging a firearm.

Disturbance, 7:57 a.m., Robinson Drive, Scio. Caller wanted the Sheriff’s Office to find housing for his disabled son. The caller was advised to seek resources through DHS and assisted living.

Violation of Order, 8:14 a.m., Linnwood Drive, Gates. Deputies investigated a violation of a restraining order. Took a report.

Trespass, 12:21 p.m., Main Street, Lyons. Deputy spoke with a business about private property tows and trespass.

DUII, 4:05 p.m., Highway 226/Freeman Road, Scio. Female, 57, of Lebanon was arrested for DUII.

Trespass, 5:12 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Caller had questions about swimming at Jordan Bridge.

Armed Disturbance, 7:08 p.m., NW Sunset Court, Mill City. Deputies investigated disturbance between husband and wife. Ongoing investigation.

Assist Other Agency, 8:06 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Deputies assisted with identifying violator of burning ordinance.

Aug. 13

Traffic Stop, 12:34 a.m., Camp Morrison Drive, Scio. Traffic stop for no plates.

Suspicious Person, 3:47 a.m., Highway 226, Scio. Deputies contacted an individual walking on the wrong side of highway.

Animal Complaint, 3:01 p.m., SW Linn Place, Mill City. Deputies attempted to locate an elusive ram. Deputies were unable to locate the animal but were able to identify and notify the owner of their escape artist.

Violation of Order, 3:44 p.m., Myers Place, Scio. Deputies discover a male, 33, sleeping in a vehicle on his father’s property. Male has a restraining order against him and is not allowed on property. He was arrested and lodged at Linn County Jail.

Aug. 14

Elude, 8 a.m., Cedar Mill Road, Lyons. Deputy attempted to stop a stolen vehicle which led to a pursuit. Due to public safety and current LCSO pursuit policy, the pursuit was terminated.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:04 a.m., Goar Road, Scio. Caller frustrated with bicyclists.

UUMV, 11:27 a.m., Fox Valley Road, Lyons. Deputies took a report of a stolen motorcycle. Investigation is ongoing.

Abandoned Vehicle, 12:10 p.m., SE Birch Street/Highway 226, Scio. Deputies attempted contact with the abandoned trailer owner. Trailer will be tagged as abandoned on 8/17 and towed on 8/18 if not removed.

UUMV, 5:58 p.m., SE Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Caller reported his vehicle was stolen but recovered his vehicle before deputy assistance was needed.

UUMV, 7:25 p.m., Jordan Road, Scio. Vehicle stolen from swimming hole.

Aug. 15

Dog Complaint, 10:29 a.m., 16th Street, Lyons. Dog owner verbally warned for nuisance barking.

Civil Dispute, 11:19 a.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Civil dispute regarding a trailer hitch after the sale of a trailer. Information documented and hitch will be returned.

Found Dog, 1:45 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Caller referred to Marion County Animal Control for a dog found in Marion County.

Civil Dispute, 3:12 p.m., Larwood Drive, Scio. Caller has issues with her niece living on her mother’s property. Civil issue.

Disturbance, 3:19 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Verbal disturbance. Male threatened to retrieve a firearm from his residence after a female accused him of being a pedophile. Male returned about 30 minutes later with a backpack, which deputies learned contained only water. No one wanted to pursue criminal charges.

Violation of Order, 5:58 p.m., NW Sunset Court, Mill City. Deputies investigated the report of a violation of order.

Theft, 7:44 p.m., SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Juvenile stole a pair of $200 AirPods from another student’s locker. Deputy retrieved the headphones. No criminal charges were pursued.

Warrant, 7:59 p.m., NW Alder Street, Mill City. Female, 43, of Mill City was arrested for an outstanding Mill City Municipal Court and a Marion County Circuit Court warrant.

Disorderly conduct, 8:01 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. A homeless family in Mill City had been approached by a citizen on two occasions who had berated them and told them to leave town. Deputy spoke with the suspect male over the phone and warned him about idle threats.
