Al Ward, Jr. of Mill City died Sept. 5, 2022. He was born in Stayton, and was a Santiam Canyon resident his entire life. He met the love of his life, Glenna Ward, at a dance, and they married on Dec. 7, 1962, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they managed Al Ward Logging for close to 50 years.
Al was known for his love of the woods and logging was truly his passion. Over the years of owning his business, he had many loyal employees and made many friends. When not working, he enjoyed fishing and hunting – he and Glenna even travelled to Alaska together.
He was preceded in death by his wife Glenna in 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Kim; brother, Bob; sister, Francis; and grandson, Alex.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Gates at 11 a.m. Sept. 19, 2022. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to SafeHaven or another animal charity of choice.
