In Memoriam: Pamela Thompson (June 17, 1961 – July 5, 2023)

Pamela Jean (Dowell) Thompson, 62, passed away of natural causes on July 5, 2023 in her home on the Little North Fork River in Lyons. 

Pammy was born June 17,1961, to Violet (Shorty) Shepard and Paul Stepp in Roseburg. She grew up in the Southern Oregon area, and later moved all around the Pacific Northwest. 

She married Phil Thompson and they had a daughter. They later separated.

In late 2005, Pamela found her life partner of 18 years, Kenneth (Kenny) Swars. They made their forever home in Lyons. 

She believed her greatest accomplishment in life was her five daughters. 

Pammy was a collector of many things, and especially loved rockhounding. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her friends and family describe her as understanding, supportive, and loving with a great sense of humor. 

Pammy was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Embry Reid-Ward; and son Zachariah Reid. 

Pammy is survived by her partner, Kenneth Swars; daughters, Heather Thompson of Rawlins, Wyoming, Violet (Alberto) Negron of Mill City, Cachet Reid of Worland, Wyoming, Nona Gilgen of Salem, and Karissa Thompson of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren, Casidy James, Luke James, Joseph Negron, Parker Negron, Aedan Farmer, Wyatt Farmer, and William Negron; brother, Donald Dowell of Florence; sister, Debra McGarvey of Salem; and  numerous nieces and nephews.
