Oct. 3

Illegal Camping, 9:02 a.m., NE Alder Street, Mill City. Caller reported a trailer arrived on private property.

Juvenile Complaint, 9:56 a.m., SW Cedar Street, Mill City. Deputies responded to a suspicious circumstance regarding a juvenile.

Criminal Mischief, 10 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Damage to a window at the Mill City Clinic. Ongoing investigation.

Dog Complaint, 11:58 a.m., SW Fourth Avenue, Mill City. Dog owner cited for dog violations.

Traffic Stop, 1:29 p.m., S First Avenue/SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Driver warned for expired registration.

Traffic Stop, 1:55 p.m., NE Wall Street, Mill City. Female, 31, of Eugene was cited in lieu of custody for driving while suspended – misdemeanor.

Dog Complaint, 2:20 p.m., E McCully Mountain Drive, Lyons. Dog owner cited for dog offenses.

Traffic Hazard, 2:50 p.m., Goar Road, Scio. Road hazard being taken care of by Linn County Road Department.

Traffic Stop, 3:14 p.m., Richardson Gap Road, Scio. Driver cited for failing to stop for school bus.

Traffic Stop, 3:15 p.m., Shelburn and Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Driver cited for 81 MPH in 55 MPH zone.

Trespass, 3:34 p.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Deputies investigated a trespass at a local school. 

Suspicious Person, 6:13 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Male, 26, of Mill City arrested for criminal trespass 2 and lodged at Linn County Jail.

Suspicious Circumstance, 6:55 p.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Caller reported a suspicious male knocked on his front door. No crimes reported.

Traffic Stop, 8:46 p.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Male, 25, of Stayton was cited in lieu of custody for driving while suspended misdemeanor and cited for no insurance and no ID.

Oct. 4

Suspicious Vehicle, 12:19 a.m., NW Ninth Avenue, Mill City. Person from out of state attempting to get gas not knowing pumps were closed..

Traffic Stop, 6:07 a.m., SW Ivy Street, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Phone Harassment, 8:58 a.m., SE Sorbin Avenue, Gates. Deputy dealt with upset person over social media post.

Dog Complaint, 10:02 a.m., SW Dogwood Street, Scio. Dog owner cited for dog violations.

Extra Patrol, 10:31 a.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Deputies assisted Santiam Elementary with a lockdown drill.

Extra Patrol, 10:35 a.m., Main Street, Lyons. Speed enforcement.

Trespass, 11:40 a.m., SW Evergreen Street, Mill City. Superintendent of SCSD called in about a trespasser frequenting Mill City campuses.

Extra Patrol, 12:14 p.m., NW Beech Street, Scio. Deputies spent time at Scio Middle School.

Traffic Stop, 12:55 p.m., Fifth and Cedar streets, Lyons. Driver cited for failing to carry proof of insurance.

Fraud, 1:14 p.m., E Bilyeu Creek Drive, Scio. Informational report of fraud.

Theft, 1:38 p.m., NW Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputy investigated theft from restaurant. Ongoing investigation.

Found Property, 3:29 p.m., Kapok and Fifth streets, Lyons. Deputy spoke with caller about a  found bike.

Suspicious Person, 3:49 p.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Subject, who had been trespassed the day before, reported near school. The person did not trespass again and was not contacted.

Oct. 5

Suspicious Circumstance, 5:28 a.m., SW Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Deputies assisted citizen with concerns.

Civil Dispute, 7:21 a.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Deputy took report of civil issue.

Traffic Hazard, 8:09 a.m., Highway 226, Lyons. Deputy dispatched an injured deer that was struck by a truck.

Suspicious Circumstance, 9:13 a.m., Robinson Drive, Scio. Caller reported a suspicious circumstance that the caller investigated and shortly after advised all was well.

Disturbance, 9:41 a.m., SE Hazel Street, Mill City. Caller reported a verbal disturbance at their home and later called back to notify everything was well.

Menacing, 10:24 a.m., S First Avenue, Mill City. Deputies went to a trespassing call and the people had permission to be on the property.

Animal Complaint, 10:26 a.m., Evergreen Lane, Lyons. Deputy conducted welfare check on cats.

Suspicious Vehicle, 11:20 a.m., McCully Mountain Road/Highway 226, Lyons. Unable to locate suspicious vehicle.

Extra Patrol, 11:24 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Deputies spent time at Scio High.

Shots Heard, 3:29 p.m., 13th Street, Lyons. Deputies responded to a shots heard call. Subject was shooting an air-powered pellet rifle, not an actual firearm.

Trespass, 3:53 p.m., NE Santiam Blvd., Mill City. Deputies were asked to officially trespass somebody in a private business. Deputies obliged.

Traffic Complaint, 5:35 p.m., N Main Street/NE Fourth Avenue, Scio. Deputies looked for a reckless driver but were unable to locate.

Assist Other Agency, 6;05 p.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Deputies stopped to check on an elderly lady who fell. Fire department was on scene and were able to care for her. She was laughing and joking with medics and police, and seemed to be in good spirits.

Oct. 6

Phone Harassment, 12:28 a.m., N Main Street, Scio. Deputies responded to a phone harassment call.

Warrant, 1:31 a.m., Eighth Street, Lyons. Female, 41, of Lyons was arrested on warrants.

Traffic Hazard, 7:36 a.m., Goar Road, Scio. Deputies spoke to a male upset about speeding trucks in area. Deputies conducted extra patrol.

Death Investigation, 8:18 a.m., Myers Place, Scio. Apparent natural causes.

Suspicious Person, 8:35 a.m., Crabtree Drive, Scio. Caller reported male walking on train tracks. Deputies were unable to locate.

Hit and Run, 8:42 a.m., Lyons-Mill City Drive, Lyons. Deputies investigated hit and run to mailboxes.

Trespass, 11:14 a.m., Providence Drive, Scio. Caller reported female trespassing. Female left and male no longer wanted LE response.

Assist Other Agency, 3:24 p.m., Fisher Street, Scio. Deputy assisted DHS with home visit.

Traffic Stop, 6:09 p.m., Kingwood Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 7:10 p.m., SE Kingwood and SE Third avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 7:34 p.m., S First Avenue/SE Ivy Street, Mill City. Driver warned for expired tags.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:13 p.m., SE Fairview Street, Mill City. Deputies contacted two vehicles at park after hours. They were advised of park rules and left.

Accident, 9:17 p.m., Fifth Street, Lyons. Report taken.

Oct. 7

Trespass, 7:16 a.m., Greenway Drive, Gates. Deputies documented information regarding civil issue.

Forest Timber Patrol, 7:42 a.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Opening morning of general deer season. Deputy spoke with many, many hunters who were unaware they were not supposed to be in the area yet.

Suspicious Vehicle, 8:18 a.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputy contacted two hunters in a closed area. Hunters were polite and cooperative, and were escorted out of the area.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:08 a.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputy contacted vehicle full of hunters who came in via open gate. All were polite and cooperative, and unaware the area is still closed for fire danger. They were asked to leave.

Accident, 9:30 a.m., SW Broadway Street, Mill City. Deputy responded to non-injury accident where driver accidentally jumped a curb. Tow arrived on scene and removed the vehicle. Driver left without incident.

Animal Complaint, 9:33 a.m., Honey Bear Road/Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Wounded elk found in field. OSP troopers responded to conduct investigation.

Suspicious Vehicle, 9:38 a.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputy contacted three vehicles full of hunters. All were polite and cooperative. They were asked to leave the area and were advised where they could legally be on public lands.

Traffic Stop, 12:39 p.m., Thomas Creek Drive, Scio. Deputy stopped a male who drove past No Unauthorized Access sign at Thomas Creek gate. Male had access permit for Avery for Lake Eleanor and was confused about where he could access it. He was turned around and told to leave.

Accident, 2:45 p.m., Jefferson-Scio Drive, Scio. Bee flew in the car, and in driver’s panic to remove it, she drifted off the road. Car hit the ditch; rolled one and a half times. Driver fine. Vehicle totaled.

Animal Complaint, 3:10 p.m., Rainbow Drive, Scio. Deputies attempted to locate injured deer that was able to make its way back into thick forest.

Traffic Stop, 6:54 p.m., SE Kingwood and SE Fourth avenues, Mill City. Driver cited for 50 MPH in 25 MPH zone.

Traffic Stop, 10:09 p.m., SE Kingwood and S First avenues, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 10:47 p.m., SE Fairview Street/S First Avenue, Mill City. Driver warned for equipment violation.

Traffic Stop, 11:01 p.m., N First Avenue/NE Wall Street, Mill City. Driver cited for driving uninsured.
